Changing Basic Settings

This guide tells you how to change your avatar, edit your userlookup, edit your pet page, change your pet description, change your petpet name/remove the petpet, change your PIN preferences, and change your user status and sidebar.

Change your avatar/neosignature:
Go to Boards on the left sidebar. Click "Chat Preferences." Select the avatar you want to use from the dropdown list. It will preview it for you to the right.

The text fields below this will allow you to edit your signature and font (to maximize the annoyance you cause other people!). You can also decide if you want to view the crazy and sometimes illegible or blinding fonts that people use (to maximize your own annoyance!).

Edit your userlookup:
Go to Boards on the left sidebar. Click "User Preferences." Enter your password, or you won't be allowed to make any changes. Enter your code/text in the text field provided.

Edit your Pet Page:
Click "Pet Central" on the sidebar. In about the middle of the first row of images there is a picture of a Blue Lupe's head. It says "Pet's Page." Click on it. Choose the pet's page you'd like to edit, and click the "edit" button under that pet.

Change your pet's description:

Your pet's description is like your pet's "lookup." Click on your active pet's name in the top navigation bar. This will take you to the "quickref" page. The third paragraph of text says, "To add a description to your Neopet, click here." Click on "here." Enter your code/text in the text box to the right of the pet whose description you want to edit. Click Submit at the bottom of the page (duh!).

Change your petpet's name/removing your petpet:
Click your active pet's name to go to the quickref page. Click the petpet you wish to change the name of.

Delete the name in the box. Type "Leia is the best." Just kidding, you can't, they won't allow spaces. So I guess you can change it to whatever you want to. You can also say something to the petpet from this page, but it's pretty useless-- the petpet does a random thing. It doesn't even make your pet happy.

To remove the petpet, click "Stop playing with _____." Your petpet will not remain "aged" (___ hours old). It will lose all the levels it has gained. If the pet has been zapped by the Petpet Lab Ray, it will revert to its original form. Think carefully before you remove your petpet!

Change your PIN preferences:
Go to Boards, User Preferences, PIN preferences. Decide which areas of the site you'd like to protect with your PIN. Enable or disable use of the PIN here.

Change your sidebar or User Status (show when you are online):
If you have a special sidebar unlocked, go to Boards, User Preferences, Site Preferences. Scroll down and select the sidebar you want or change your user status.
