Transferring Pets

by Natasa

Have you ever wondered how you can safely transfer your pets? Have you almost always lost your pet in the pound while trying to transfer it on a side/main account or to another user?

Well, if you have, you can fix that. Below is my authentic guide to transferring pets

NOTE : If you have dial-up connection, this guide probably won’t work. You must have a fast connection for this type of transfer.
If you lose your pet, do not blame this on me. Even this guide is not safe from hungry Auto Adopters (AAers).

Transferring to a side/main account

Getting ready.
You need to make sure what items or petpets you want to go with your pet. And take out those wretched 250 Neopoints, too.
Elementary, really.

What you must have.
Now, you must have two fast browsers on your computer. Internet Explorer (IE) comes automatically with most computers, so basically you only need another browser. I highly recommend Mozilla Firefox (FF), which is the fastest, apart from IE, of course.
(some people say that FF is faster than IE, but I’m not going to argue about that now)

Setting up your thing.
First off, open a window of FF and then a window of IE.
In FF, go to the disown page.
In IE, go to the Auto/Quick Adopt link (QAl).
If you don’t know what the QAl is, it’s the link where you don’t need to see the Neopet’s picture, debate on whether to adopt it or not, click on it and click the ‘Yes’ button that comes up with the popup. It automatically adopts a pet in the pound, basically.
Here is the quick adopt link:
http://www.NeoPets.com/process_adopt.phtml?pet_name=blahblahblah
Enter the name of the pet you are adopting instead of "blahblahblah."
Also, if you don’t have enough NP to adopt a pet which is in or out of the pound, the QAl tells you how much it will cost.

The procedure!
This is easy, actually.

  1. Click the ‘Noooooooooooooo!’ button on the disown page in FF (after clicking it for a dozen times, of course).
  2. Fly over to the QAl in IE, and refresh (hit F5 to be faster) about 3 times per second for about 10 seconds (just to be on the safe side).

Er.. that’s it.

Argh, I LOST MY PET IN THE POUND! YOUR GUIDE DIDN’T WORK!! LIAR!
Ahem.. -pokes beginning with pointy stick-
“If you lose your pet, do not blame this on me. Even this guide is not safe from hungry Auto Adopters (AAers).”
Hey, I warned you.

-sob- my poor, poor -insert painted/avatar pet and name here-! -cry to the AC-
If you do that on the AC, you’ll probably get thrown a bunch of insults and one or two sympathy replies.
What you have to do is shove aside your self pity and take some action. B)
If you did everything on my guide, read it carefully and triple checked that you hadn’t misread anything and your pet is on a shabby side account with another number of painted/avatar pets, chances are that that user is an AAer.What you have to do is what Sin did.

Transferring to another user.

Getting ready.
Repeat the first steps that I mentioned above, make sure the other user does them too.

What you must have.
Any Instant Messenger (IM) will do. I prefer MSN. I don't use AIM alot and YIM is too complex. -.-

Setting up your thing.

  1. Like before, open FF and go to the disown page.
  2. Go to the IM chat window. Tell the other user that you’re going to do a countdown (10, 9, 8...) and at 1 you’re going to pound the pet. Or you can simply set a time, for example 7:36:17 am. The seconds are vital, because most users tend to refresh on #:00 sharp. If there are any users refreshing, anyway.
  3. Like before, tell the user to refresh roughly 3 times per second hitting the F5 button for about 10 seconds.
  4. Pound the pet, the other user gets it and then switches back, or they pound and then you both switch back. =)

Questions.
Q : Can you use IE for the disown page and FF for the QAl page instead of the other way round you showed?
A : Certainly. But like I said, FF isn’t as fast as IE, and if you try refreshing 3 times per second for 20 seconds, either a pound surfer will take your pet or it will be snatched by an AAer. I’ve tried this myself, and trust me, the person I was talking to was literally screaming their head off while I was refreshing that I wasn’t adopting. -.-
Q : Have you ever lost a pet in the pound?
A : Ahh, I believe I’ve lost only one, and that was when I was really young, when I was extremely stupid and agreed to lend first my Fire Wocky with a Mazzew first for a Red Aisha with Mootix. And so I was scammed. =D

I believe there isn’t anything else to add. If you’ve followed my guide and have transferred safely, well done! If you haven’t, well, all I can say is good luck on getting your pet back.
